I wont lie – Lake View is a small town and it really is the frontier. There is one person per mile and about 7000 in the area. But it was an interesting Cinco de Mayo with a tour of the Resources Initiatives (they are really into Geo-thermal power and renewable resources), a town tour and a Rotary presentation held in the Elks building!
I was happy to offer some conservation and exhibition advice to the Director of the Schminck Memorial Museum and enjoyed their small but jam packed museum. The evening saw us at the Huffstutters for dinner where I instigated the daily post prandial perambulation for the GSE team – we really are getting fat (except Olivier who has to fit in his wedding suit on his return on pain of death by fiancée).
After a presentation by the Bureau of Land Management Friday saw us back in Klamath for the noon Klamath County Rotary meeting. This is the first meeting where the Liat beach ball we usually give away got tossed about the whole room – that was fun. Also going to comment on the success of the literature that we present to each club, on our islands. The work gathering that up was worth it.
A quick stop for some retail therapy and then the evening saw us at Jim Calvert’s eclectic house and a great social. Jennifer and I were planning to leave a little early as she lives so far away – but we were having so much fun we ended up staying late enjoying the conversation.
Next stop Crater Lake.
P.S. Thanks Jennifer you were a great host and I’m sorry too that I couldn’t spend more time with your lovely family in your gorgeous house (with the cotton tail rabbits).
