Those Dang Medford Rogues

My next vocational in Grants Pass was an arts symposium held by the Grants Pass Arts Association where we heard about the etiquette of collaboration from Jennifer Wheatley, of Yuru Inspires, on line marketing from Anne Ashbey and Event Co-ordination from Dawn Welch. This was al under the invitation of Tommi Drakes, the art department head of Rogue Community College.

I found it all very interesting and met some great people, but had to duck out early to present at the Grants Pass Rotary meeting where practically all of our Medford Rogue and Ashland family showed up! I WAS GOBSMACKED! Greg, Kingsley, Lisa, Sam and Ken all made an appearance and as a precursor to how fantastic he is Dell Gray of Roseburg Rotary also made an appearance to pre-welcome us and make sure our schedules were ok. Lord love a duck – I was impressed.

We were not the only presentation on the cards for that meeting, we had to rush through a bit so that veterans from the Korean War could also present. I was really emotional after their talk and was really happy that I wasn’t the only one that thought they deserved a standing ovation.

I will admit to a little retail therapy with Nettie my gorgeous Host Nana, where I picked up a pair of leather Nine West heels for US$2.30 (BLISS) and then we had a lovely dinner at a restaurant owned by the same bank that runs the Bear Hotel (Sorry I cant remember the name.)

It was a fantastic meal and we were lead through the restaurant by our hosts who showed us all the crazy animals hidden in all around the building. Also had to take a picture of the monument to the remains of the Native American woman found in the excavations to build the restaurant. Kudos to Brady Adams and Evergreen Bank for honouring the wishes of the tribes when dealing with the remains.

Yes, I have definitely noticed a shift in perception of the Native Americans as we have traveled closer to the coast. More on that later.
